The Shop Mechanic Course (One Week)
Become a shop-ready bicycle mechanic with comprehensive, hands-on training delivered over one intensive week.
Course Overview
This course is designed for individuals seeking the foundational skills required to work effectively in a bicycle shop environment. Participants will develop and refine the essential competencies expected of junior mechanics, with a focus on mastering the core techniques necessary for professional advancement.
The instructional methodology centres on elevating students to a professional standard in core mechanic skills. Throughout the course, a strong emphasis is placed on understanding how and where to locate technical specifications, as well as the importance of adhering to these guidelines during all service procedures. To facilitate learning and ensure efficient access to reference material, students are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet device. These devices should be preloaded with all relevant technical links distributed prior to the start of the course.
The course culminates in a hands-on bike assembly project. Students are required to properly assemble a bicycle by checking and adjusting bearings, fine-tuning brakes and gears, and performing a comprehensive safety inspection. Successful completion of these tasks will equip participants to confidently undertake the technical evaluation required for employment in any bicycle shop.
